In this course, we will ask "what" and "how" of history. What is history and how do we know, study, and write history? In an attempt to answer the questions, we will examine a variety of approaches in the study of history and discuss histories of history. During the course, we will do a close reading on two key texts on the nature of history and discuss the meaning of historical facts, the role of evidence, and issues of historical interpretation. Studetns will then extend the knowledge of historical methods through reading and analyzing historical sources. This course is provided in English and students participation is a critical part in course grade.
